High School Teacher, Tracy Trinh, noticed something odd about her students' essay submissions. They all followed the same rigid structure and were full of poetic language that did not sound like her students' typical writing voices. She quickly realized that her primary student was actually ChatGPT, not a Method student at all!
Instead of failing her students and accusing them of plagiarism, she used this as a teachable moment to send a message to all of her students about the benefits of A.I. as a learning support tool, acknowledging that she, herself, uses it to complete daily tasks. Taking the shiny new "they'll never know I didn't write this!" sheen off of A.I. makes it less tempting for students to use it as a get-out-of-learning free card.
